I am still not sure how and where to start. The news is constant and the fear is real. However, here are the two things I am planning to do.
Calling my Congresswoman and Senators telling them to stand up for free speech, Free Mahmoud Khalil, stop ICE. Do you know about this App called 5Calls? It is wonderful.
Volunteering at the Mutual Aid L.A. I love this concept and after seeing their work in L.A. fires, I really would like to be part of an organization.
For my mental health besides painting, I have been knitting a lot. It has taken me four months to work on this and I realized my sleeves are way too big. They are almost to my knees. And although I like an oversized look, but not this oversized look!!
So now I am in the process of redoing the sleeves, which is painful. But I am going to finish it.
I have exciting news to share. One of my pieces from last year got selected to a group show called ‘Made in California in the Brea Gallery. If you are local please come on the opening night on April 26th. It will be fun!
That’s it my darlings. Hope you are having a reflective Ramadan and a beautiful spring.
Sumayya
Love you, Sumayya and all these resources and reflections.
