I'm so sorry for your loss, Sumayya. Thank you for sharing your reflections on your grief, I think they're really important. I come from a background that also pushes people to move past grief quickly which is so hurtful to the person but also society. I think that's a part of why our society chooses not to see the sorrow of genocide in Palestine, Congo, or Sudan because we've conditioned ourselves to move past it. Very "Yes yes, so sad. Anyway..." We don't even properly grieve what's happening in the states, we can feel our own sorrow so we of course can't empathize with the sorrow of others.
Thank you and so true. It is insane that how much our culture forces positivity on us even if it’s fake. This creates a culture that is artificial and not honest. I constantly feel when I am talking to my friends that they don’t have space for me. So thank you for reading and understanding 😭❤️❤️
